24 bottles of shampoo in my grandmothers shower

so- i went to take a shower today at my grandmother' house, I haven't spent the night or taken a shower here in forever- but I went to get in - and I knock over 6 bottles of shampoo - and then I realize I have no space to move- because there are so many shampoo bottles in the actual bathtub part.

I was laughing to myself- because there were 5-6 bottles of the same type of shampoo- all at different content levels- some almost empty- some full- and then the rest were all random and different. There were probably 10 different types of bodywash's in the shower- and it was hard to make a decision on what I would use.

In the end I used the burt's bees pomegranate shampoo/ and the aveeno body wash.

I decided I would depict a digital drawing of what the shower looks like with all the bottles lined up on the side of the tub- and all the bottles hanging under the showerhead- etc. It looks like something my 7 year old cousin would make- but its pretty accurate as to the amount of crap in the shower/bath tub.

god bless my grandmother and her indecisive/compulsive shampoo problem. I wont even tell you how many bottles are in the bathroom cabinets- im pretty sure there are bottles of nuetragena rain in there that date from 1991/92- ....

luna moth obsession

I am trying to conduct research and figure out how I can find some of these moths- I have seen them on very few occasions - I had a close encounter with one a few weeks ago when I was going sailing with my boss on a small lake in northern ohio. It was sleeping in the main sail, and as that sail was being opened- it fluttered out and down past my hand, and onto the lake- and sat there for a few minutes- before it flew off.

I tried really hard to get it- I thought it was dead at first- and that it had fallen out of the sail and into the water- but realized it was actually just sitting there the whole time, riding the ripples.

OMG

Are people just fucking sooo stupid or what?

I just want to say- that 2 weeks ago- our local touch-down butter Jesus made of styrafoam got struck by lighting and burnt down- and I kind of feel like this should happen to a few modeling agents and PR people out there- that their talent would be better off if their agents were struck by lighting- because they too- are made of fucking styrafoam- who the fuck makes a statue of styrafoam in the land of a million thunder/lighting storms? Who?!!! I'll tell you who- Jackasses.

Now- good agencies are made of concrete- they are strong, stable, and will last. They are great to work with and deal with. Their agents are easy-going, responsive, work hard for their talent, and are not catty, stuck up, and full of bull-shit. I would like to take the time to give a shout out to the best talent agency I have ever dealt with- Timothy Priano is amazing- and his agency is brilliant, full of talent, and easy to work with- and not in a softy way- but in a humanistic, real way- lets just cut through the crap, get it done, and make it happen we are all artists way-

god LA- I do miss you from time to time, and San Francisco is such a beautiful little disaster in comparison. But sometimes- I reach my hand down and stir your pot for a taste of some more bullshit. Here's the latest flavour!

An email I sent to a PR "fashioninsta" in response to a designer- who told me to contact her- obviously didnt bode her well at the moment- and in her minute of rage or whatever it was... she wrote an email to the designer and sent it to me instead... giving me a glimpse into her potential health problem!

"This woman is gonna drive me to drink! I will get back to her and explain again that everything is out and that even if it’s here 6 items is far too much for this shoot.
Her work is average at best and the magazine is ok. "

Love it- I'm only 23 years old, 2.5 years out of school, and already I have managed to piss off a showroom gal- awesome! Oh- she sent me compliments! My work is average at best- wow... thats great... cause everyone is a wannabe right? And for this woman to say I'm okay at best- well... sweet! And 6 dresses is not worth my shoot- but maybe 2? Damn- I'm doing pretty well for myself at this stage.
And as for the publication... well... its a younger generation lesser known publication for sure- full of art, youngsters rising up, starting out... and its printed/ published/ editing by one guy! i think that's impressive for this "been around the block a few times" lady to praise us so highly- even though she thinks shes saying we suck- I know shes really saying- you guys effin rock.

found some stuff on youtube of me photographing Actress Rachael Leigh Cook & Access Hollywood's Maria Menounous. This was all for coco eco magazine- last year. Lots of fun- old news though. My hair is soo short- Rache was cool, Maria was crazy- and they both were beautiful. I remember feeling poopy at Marias shoot- and thought I was going to hurl at one point- which is also old news- no one knew at all. Haha- im like a bird or a lizard- i hide when i have health problems so i dont get eaten by predators. I think Maria would have totally eaten me.

My new blues- I'm afraid I wont be able to get this model for this shoot in a few weeks- if i don't get her, I don't play ball. Sorry all those out there that just work with what they have- i've been doing that for like... years- I know all about that- just working with that you have, making the best out of what is there. Yea- i totally love to rep those types of personalities- but for me- im getting to the point- where I want to start calling the shots, where the sky is the limit- and all those exact damn details that I call and say should happen- happen. I'm alittle over scrimp&save- I'm on diva-tude. Maybe that might make some people squint at me a bit, but seriously- I have to step up at one point. Heres that point for me.

More of you might be thinking- what the fuck is she talking about?

Just watched Project Runway tonight- I love Seth Aaron's work- its amazing, its so up-my alley- steam-punk functions meets couture & tailoring perfection meets Berlin's vibe meets seth aaron of Vancouver, wa. Its wearable- its street- its high brow- its fun- its sexy- its well made- beyond well made- its just perfect. Knowing great designers who tailor well, like my friend Bao Tranchi, really has grown my appreciation for fashion, the art and craft of construction, textiles, colours, design, flow, shape, and consistency in style. Week after week on Project Runway- Seth Aaron has amazed me. I can see his thought process through the show, and relate. Thats it, from the heart, do what you feel, use your techniques to accomplish your garment. Even the judges know he has been consistent, he has style, hes made his mark, he has his signature way of constructing, and visualizing, and creating, and anyone who loves fashion can really appreciate it.

I hope he wins- he amazes me! Can't wait to see the next episode!

another night of washing clothes in the bathtub

yep, it sometimes comes to this. no money, lots of detergent, bear claw bathtub, and two legs... we all have to do it at some point in our lives... right? okay okay... maybe not down to those precise details, but we all at one point or another learn how to appreciate things like washing machines, which we may take for granted until its time to get down and dirty and wash your clothes yourself. It hurts my back, it takes way longer, everything will get wet... not just the clothes your washing... but the ones your wearing... and it wears out your arms and legs real quick... but... it saved me spending over $10.00 on just washing alone at the "mat" down the street. $2.50 for a small/medium load... wtf? okay... so maybe im crazy, but its humbling, and its a work-out.

oh and... eddy the parrot took a bath and then pooped on jessica alba. awesome.

finally I have found a somewhat sustainable job that is full time and will allow me to pay my bills and my rent with leftovers that will allow me to eat and drink with friends with little worries about whether or not i have enough...

rugstan is a hand-made rug place based out of the design center.... which is a pretty strange place, but heaven for textile/designer/rich people bla bla bla.... i have a job.

I sadly have to say goodbye to the part-time position at aechelon, they are so nice there, and I'd like to stay, but something tells me this new position actually might work out.

I have a feeling i might get to travel (not-commute) ... like actually travel to different countries and go to boring rug shows, but then put together fashion shoots with local artists! awesome! thats muy bueno!

and i can bring eddy my pet parrot to my new job... which will be great... i can spend time with the little fucker...

anywho... job in NYC... seemed promosing at first, but that feeling is starting to kick in ... like... your going to have to wait awhile, so just kick it and relax.

my thing is to keep doing fashion editorials, build a working relationship with artists here in the bay area, work with this photographer Andrea, hopefully on a few projects, and rebuild a beautiful book.

I want this mask. I have wanted to buy this annubis mask for the past 2 years, its very expensive, and I don't have disposable income anymore, but one day... I will have it.

I have imagined myself in a full body stocking- opaque in some parts- slightly transparent in the more important parts- and doing an art performance with the mask on. I would be channeling annubis. I would be ridiculous, and all my LA/SF friends would love it, while all my Cincy people would think I was clinically insane.

Its okay if some people think you are crazy and roll their eyes, while others cant keep their eyes off of you because you mystify and entertain them.

I'm not sure what music I would dance to, I'd want to do it out in death valley and have some friends record it, maybe I'll collaborate, write my own music, and have someone lay some beats down, and just make a music video/ video art-piece. Whats important is seeing it come to life- the outfit, the splits, the sand, the mountains, the cold, the hot, the edit, all of it.

haven't blogged in forever, trying to get back into it.

Recently got a day job! Yay! the search for permanent employement came to end about a month ago, and now things seem to be going a bit smoother financially.

I was blessed by the heavens this month. A trip to Hawaii to start off the month was amazing! Spending the last two weeks here in San Francisco finally, it felt for a while that every weekend I was somewhere else.

Next week! Going home for Thanksgiving, and a lot to be thankful for!

Starting with:

a) a shoot gone bad: alicia silverstone's photo shoot with coco eco mag might have gone a bit smoother, but I am THANKFUL she didnt walk off the set. She is a very nice girl, and her message is clear ... feel better, look better, do better. I am just glad she felt so good that even in a moment of pure confusion, caos, and awkwardness, she didnt leave cursing our staff, but instead shined a smile and said her goodbyes. That is all I have to say about that, though, if you had a sit down chat with me, I'd tell you all about why it went wrong, how I saw it coming, and how it could have been prevented : )

b) being hired again to retouch for Dalia, and for her giving me work and being super professinal and awesome

c) getting hired by a great couple to photograph their wedding in Maui

d) Max Lau and Max Lau's awesome parents, Larry and Barbara! They took me in and showed me around Waikiki and Honolulu, and took me to the gorgeous bellows beach and a fab dinner with Max's uncle and aunt.

f) My grandmother and mother for buying my plane ticket home to Ohio for the weekend and holiday

g) To my best friend Toby's girlfriend, Jen, for getting us Lady Gaga Tickets, and inviting me to the show... I'm going to send that check soon Jen, I swear!

h) my landlord. not going to explain that one right now.

i) and lastly... I want to thank the new team of people I will be collaborating with here in San Francisco to produce some amazing shoots that I will post in the future. the "real" first star wars movie.... and there is that scene where Luke is staring out to the 3 moons that orbit the dusty planet of Tatoonie as he ponders his future. Will Luke ever escape the boring farm chores of his uncle owen and aunt beru ?

We all know the answer, and how the story goes.

I bring up this moment in the movie, for I feel that is where I am. Haunted by so many paranioas and weaknesses of my past, I have chosen to embrace this moment, peer out from my window to my 3 moons (the city scape of San Francisco) and ponder my future? Will I always live in restraint and resolve this flaw by being an exhibitionist? Will I ever learn how to keep to standards I set for myself? Will I ever see myself for what I am? Will I ever know my self worth?

With my home burnt down, owen & beru dead, and a really old white dude in a brown robe offering me the chance to make something of myself: I take that chance. I board the millenium falcon with a very supple&sexy harrison ford, chewie, the old guy, and 2 droids to rescue a hot princess from the imperial army.

I spent more time today going from cafe to pub to retail store submitting applications, meeting different faces and names, and hearing a little more positive feedback- a few places were looking to hire, and the Crepe House would be a great place to work part-time. Everyone has the same story though, in the next few weeks... I feel I cant wait even a few weeks, and I worry about whether or not I will be able to go home to Ohio if I get a job later then sooner. I worry about affording life, rent, my room, my things, my car, my work... I feel very vunerable to loss right now.

But I brush those negative feelings aside, and I turn up the Lady GaGa on the ipod- mini, and walk on down the Haight. I met lots of interesting people, heard lots of stories, and even walked down to Hayes valley and had a drink at Absinthe where I met the main host, Brad, who really dug the fact that I was a photographer, and took some photos of me.

This truly is an excersize of my sanity, my personality, my socializing skills, and my ability to pass on good vibes during hard times. I will visit the SFMOMA tommorrow with Ms. Magdalena and her friend and photo companion Fred for some lunch and art, afterwards followed by some alone time on the computer, then to Hard Rock Cafe to apply again, with a resume.. for a job. Then I will take photos late at night at some club in dowtown on Harrison.

Yay! Small gig money makes every bit of difference in my world now. Cheers to small time gigs!

a day on haight... the job hunt continues...

So... I spent about 3 hours going from different Boutiques, Cafe's, Brewery's and even a hat shop... in search for employment...lots to see on Haight. I had one job lead at a BBQ joint, and the Red Victorian seemed to dig me, but I need to meet face to face with the owner on Sunday for Sunday Conversations... oh god i love hippies and wierd old ladies who arent hippies but i call them hippies anyways because they like peace and art and wearing long strange coats... I would like to work anywhere that is fun... those two places seemed fun.

I had two pints at Magnolia... and.. well... submitted a resume...it felt stiff... the air that is..and they definitly were not hiring... they always make that very clear... but i still gave them the best resume i had.. i saved it for them, i would love to work there, it feels so quaint, and pubish, and just lovely. I hope to hit it up more pubs tommorrow in the afternoon and drop off resumes, and maybe head down to Union Square to continue the adventure, and maybe even Hayes Valley.

This is quite the episode I am in. I would like to be employed. I pray I pray I pray.

Anyways... I am documenting the whole expierence. The first photo is of my resume, there are photos of all the places I checked out, applications i filled out... and I dropped by the market for some produce, and the music store for a "frog" instrument... which is actually a pig. oink!

Get your Green on: Create a culture within your home..

So... Instead of going out and searching for a job yesterday, I decided to sit and think about how important it is to have green plants in the home. I also thought about good lighting in the home, and living creatures, compost, recycling, energy, and atmosphere, balance and comfort. These things are soo important when creating a living space your going to be spending a lot of time in.

I thought about when I worked in a dark windowless cave as a retoucher for 2 years for a fashion company, and how my attitude was very much affected. We tried to bring animals/fish into the situation, but I think it depressed them as well, in fact... one of them jumped out of the bowl and committed suicide. I felt like committing suicide some days theres... dark concrete cold walls bread hellish demons in my mind!

I thought about how I love my home now because I have more house plants and light, and living space. So I decided I would blog to you about how important it is to create a balance of oxygen producing plants, natural light, conservation, music, and water flow.

Most people would call this Feng Shui or Vaastu Shastra, which is all about creating energy, balance in the home using water and plant-life.. and much much more.. but to Western girl... basically this means... buy some fish and get some house plants.

Its really important, and having a clean funcitonal home is not only nice for asethtic reasons ( and trust me your guests will take note to your great house-decorating skills especially if you have a lot of plants) but it creates a peace within yourself that you may need after a hard days work, or stressful drive home in shitty traffic. You come home to a beautiful, efficient and
"living" home... you basically build a culture within your walls, where you nurture, care, grow, and routinely pick up a system where you can find peace in knowing that at least this is there for you to go home to. Watering plants, feeding fish, practicing conservation with electricity, water, and your food is a great way to create positive energy and balance within your very soul... trust me!

Even in the work-place.. i believe having windows, light, plants... at least... is sooo important for the sake of oxygen, balance, and it could just help with 15% of the frustrations and stress or bordom one may come across in one day.

So yes... i just blogged about green. Get your green on, make a living space with living things within it... and you might find these baby steps will lead to something much more... like a revalation of selflessness. Your focusing on taking care of something else rather then yourself... it might just be an orchid, or a gold fish, but its bringing out those human instincts to nurture and take care of something... its really a beautiful thing. Never look at it as a job, look at is a gift.

job hunt in the haight

So today I will set out to the streets of the Haight, and walk from boutique to cafe in search of employment. I will document the whole experience. I have to some how see this as a process of steps and personality skills. I will practice on live human beings the strength and stretch of my personality. I will pass along many home-less people who will play music, and ask for change or a cigarette: a strong motivator for someone like me.

I will continue to search for freelance work, and I am thinking of starting a Tuesday-Late-Night drawing workshop out of my Victorian home. This somewhat excites me, because I have seen the success of what Jennifer Patton created down in Los Angeles with this very idea, and the community that she brought together using talented models and performers and splicing them with an aura of art and spectators.

Inspiration and Future are two key terms that I am constantly repeating to myself.

Goals in alphabet:
